Physician Informaticist & Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Northwell Health Laboratories, Lake Success, NY
Dr. Kothari is a board-certified physician in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Clinical Informatics. He completed his pathology residency training at Northwell Health, where he served as chief resident. Upon pathology training, he completed a Master’s in Public Health at Columbia University in New York with a focus on US health policy. He is an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine. He provides professional services in Clinical Informatics to improve laboratory performance, diagnostics, clinical outcomes and efficacy of health care delivery. He is the Medical Director of the oncology laboratory at Imbert Cancer Center as well as an outpatient medical laboratory in Westchester. He has led system-wide clinical quality and strategic initiatives at Northwell such as, ‘Proactive Detection of Acute Kidney Injury in Hospital Settings’ and ‘Early Detection of Chronic Kidney Disease in Ambulatory Settings’. Over the past few years, he has worked closely with Northwell medical leadership to establish system standards for effective management of patients on warfarin and newer direct anticoagulants. Dr. Kothari has a deep interest in Population Health and has served on the College of American Pathologists taskforce on the ‘Role of Pathologists’ in Population Health’.
